Jessie Reyez Releases New Song “MUTUAL FRIEND”, Announces New Album “Yessie”
Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez released a new song “MUTUAL FRIEND” along with a music video on August 12, 2022.
Just hours before the release of the song, she performed the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
The song follows up “FRAUD”, which was released back in June. Also, the track will appear on her upcoming sophomore album “Yessie”, which is set to be released on September 16, 2022.
It was written by Jessie Reyez and Ryan Williamson, who also produced the track.
The accompanying video was directed by Peter Huang.
Jessie Reyez told NYLON about what the inspiration of the song is, “Life. Everything. Everything that's in there is what happened. I showed my friend just a day after. He was like, 'What the f*ck? What the f*ck?' The conversation that we had 24 f*cking hours ago is a song now? What the f*ck?" So it just hasn't changed, because it's just me talking about life.”
Jessie Reyez shared on social media, “Ry, u talented being. We had about 20 mins before I had to leave ur crib to my next session but U said wait wait let me play u something. I'm happy u didn't let my ass leave. The song fought to be born. U killed it.”
She continued, “Pedro, you do not miss bro. Ever. It's insane. Thank you for ur genius and thank you for managing to finish shooting this in the middle of what felt like a hurricane. But that's a story for another day.”
