King Princess Premieres New Song “Jaime” on BBC Radio 1
Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter King Princess premiered a new song “Jaime” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is the final pre-release from her upcoming third studio album “Girl Violence”, which is set to be released on September 12, 2025.
It was written by Jacob Portrait, Joseph Pincus, and King Princess. Produced by King Princess, Jacob Portrait and Aire Atlantica.
King Princess told Jack Saunders about the song, “I think everyone has a Jaime in their life that they're desperate to get the validation from, and they'll never give it to you. that's what you need to know.”
She continued, “I have so many Jaimes. It's not even funny. I have hundreds the idea. And I think what was so great about writing this song is to personify this character of like, just somebody who just really doesn't get you or want to see win it all. And give her a name, and this is pulled from so many different little snippets in my life of feeling just like, really let down. So I was like, let's put it all together and, like, create this mega lady.”- The new album comprises 13 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from Joe Talbot. It is her first album in three years since the 2022 album “Hold On Baby”. Also it is the first release after moving back to Brooklyn.
King Princess said of the album, “I think as much as I am the protagonist. I am also the villain of this record. I think that the most interesting thing about 'Girl Violence' is like, as much as you are the victim of it, you're also the perpetrator. Like, hurt people vibe.”
She continued, “Honestly, moving back to Brooklyn and being so entrenched in my beautiful, messy gay community that's around me, I just felt like so seen by their chaos, but also like be reflective of my own. And I was like, this is the perfect, you know, ecosystem to write a sad lesbian record in.” -
She added, “It really is like for me, when I want to go to the studio is after a night of sitting and gabbing with my friends. Like that is the most like compelling time for me, like the next day the all I want to do is write. Because I think that pseudo Sex and the City type vibe that New York gives, it's really inspiring to me.” - source : BBC Radio 1
