Doja Cat Announces New Album “Vie”, Shares New Song “Jealous Type”
American rapper Doja Cat has announced her upcoming fifth studio album “Vie” will be released on September 26, 2025 via Kemosabe and RCA Records.
The album title “Vie” means “life” in French and the record comprises 15 tracks. It is her first album in two years since the 2023 album “Scarlet”.
This time, she made the album returning to pop music, with an '80s-inspired sound, retro textures, and synth-drenched soundscapes.
From the album, she released the first single “Jealous Type” on August 21, 2025.
She co-wrote the song with American record producer Y2K and American singer-songwriter Jack Antonoff.
The accompanying music video was directed by Boni Mata and filmed in Los Angeles.
The clip was inspired '80s films such as “9½ Weeks” and “Flashdance”.- Doja Cat told V Magazine about the album, “Where I am creatively right now is based in where I was. I want to kind of swim back upstream, so to speak, and go back where I was, and just re-trim and evolve everything. I have so many things that float around in my brain when it comes to the '80s. I wanted to play with that nostalgia by using these Lo-Fi sounds and samples and things that reminded you of something from your childhood, but it wasn't on the nose '80s.”
She continued, “I do want to be self-aware enough to admit the fact that this is a pop-driven project. The concept is very pointed towards love, romance, and sex-and discourse in relationships. Really just relationships in general, and relationships with yourself, even. This album is very much about love in a way that reflects how I want it to be in the future-my hope, my hopefulness.” - source : Apple Music
