London-based singer-songwriter Cat Burns released a new song “Lavender” on September 12, 2025.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming sophomore album “How To Be Human”, following “GIRLS!” and “All This Love”.
The album is set to be released on October 31, 2025 via Since 93 and RCA Records.
It was written by Cat Burns, Gez O'Connell, and Jordan Riley. Produced by Jordan Riley, Rob Milton, and Jonah Summerfield.
The accompanying music visualiser was filmed by Eleni.
Cat Burns said of the song, “Five years into being a big women loving women and I feel lucky to love women. Wrote this with Jordan Riley and Gez O'Connell and we wanted to talk about how good lavender is for you and how good dating a fabulous woman is for me, hope you all love it as much as I do, happy listening.”- The new album comprises 16 tracks, produced by Jordan Riley, Rob Milton, Jonah Summerfield, Kurisu, and Bren.
It is her first album in over a year since the 2024 debut album “Early Twenties”.
Cat Burns said of the album, “'How to be human' is about the last year of my life. I experienced the death of a loved one and my first relationship heartbreak at the same time and genuinely had no idea how I would get through the situation. Making this album was my introspective and neurodivergent way of navigating heartbreak and the loss of my Grandad who I was extremely close to - it’s my comfort album. While making it I realised how many people it could help, I know there are so many people going through similar struggles. I hope it provides them some comfort too and shows how you can pick yourself back up.” -
She shared on social media, “I went through a real ego death last year after losing my grandad and going through a breakup at the same time. While I was in the storm I knew I wanted to document my experience in song form, to show the reality of how hard it was, but also so I could see if would ever get out of it, because if I’m being honest I really didn’t think I was gonna get through that time of my life. It’s honest, it’s uncomfortable, and it’s really scary for me to release, but that is true art to me. if it doesn’t cost you anything then what’s the point?” - source : Apple Music
