Kiesza Releases New EP “Dancing and Crying: Vol. 2”
Canadian singer-songwriter Kiesza released her new EP “Dancing and Crying: Vol. 2” on July 25, 2025.
It is a sequel to the EP “Dancing and Crying: Vol 1”, which was released back in May.
The EP comprises 6 tracks, featuring collaboration with Baltimore singer-songwriter Jaylen Brown and Canadian electroclash producer Peaches.
Produced by Bobby Love, Jess Cake, Sammy Virji and Sugar Jesus. Written by Andreas Alexander Turau, Andrei Basirov, Jake Richard Cunningham, Jaylen Brown, Kiesza, Peaches and Sammy Virji.
This volume surrounds the theme of friends coming and going from Kiesza's home studio, late-night linkups, and a hunger to keep a consistent mood throughout the EP.
It features a sexy, intimate exploration of female pop-driven house music.- Kiesza said of the EP, “This volume feels like an underground dance house vibe. 'Stays In Bed' was the genesis of the lyrical themes. I wanted to go for it and express my mode of seduction. Everything flowed together from there. It was a very easy volume to create with everyone. It's a volume you can lose yourself in and that was intentional. Because of my songwriter background, I have a tendency to switch vibes or genres almost daily, but this time I wanted to keep an emotion going throughout the volume and sustain it. Dancing and Crying: Vol. 2 was made with a lot of my friends present and coming in and out of the room. We also went out a bunch during the process and sometimes went back to record after being out all night.”

Kiesza explained some tracks for the EP.
“Stays In Bed”
“We all carry sides of ourselves that we rarely let the world see. People have known me for my quirkiness, my nerdiness, my carefree spirit, my retroflair, and my love of dance. But it's my sensuality that quietly fuels my creative fire. It's the pulse beneath the surface that allows me to shape-shift into a kaleidoscope of expression. Sexuality is deeply woven into the fabric of our reality, whether we choose to embrace it or not. I've never fully unleashed this part of myself, but working with Jess Cake and Sammy Virji on 'Stays in Bed' cracked something open. And once it opened, there was no going back. This song didn't just mark a moment. It set the tone for everything to come and revealed a chapter I didn't realize I was so ready to begin.”
“Runway” with Jaylen Brown
“Ruin My Life is a deeply sexy track with multiple layers and it has the coolest build ending on a total climax. I felt super playful inside the production. I could just keep exploring.”
“So Erotic” with Peaches
“Peaches is a legend! I slid into her DMs not knowing if she would see it or respond. She lives in Berlin but happened to be in Toronto where I was recording the volume with Jess Cake, Sugar Jesus and Bobby Love at my house. She came by and laid down her verse. She is truly a badass icon. The track is super juicy and heavy and very dirty. The bass feels like a dungeon.
This was the last song my pup Kjera Croft was part of before I lost my baby girl so it's especially emotional reflecting on this one. But I'm grateful her spirit and energy are part of the essence of this track and that she had a chance to meet and snuggle Peaches through the entire session.”
