Tom Odell Releases New Song “Ugly”
British singer-songwriter Tom Odell released a brand new song “Ugly” on August 8, 2025.
The song is the third single off of his upcoming seventh studio album “A Wonderful Life”, which is set to be released on September 5, 2025.
It was written by Josefina Proto, Laurie Blundell, and Tom Odell. Produced by Tom Odell and Cityfall.
The accompanying music video was directed by Alex Leggatt, as with the previous music videos for “Don't Cry, Put Your Head On My Shoulder” and “Don't Let Me Go”.
Tom Odell said of the song, “Something I've never really talked about is some of my own weird shame around my body, and it feels so uncomfortable to actually say that in a song. But when you say it, it's really fucking powerful.”- He continued, “Ugly is an exploration of what it feels like to be a human being - of looking out at the world and feeling like everybody seems to glide through life so easily, but the experience of actually living it yourself is so fraught and it's not pretty.”

The new album comprises 10 tracks, produced by Tom Odell and Cityfall. It is his first album in a year and nine months since the 2024 album “Black Friday”.
Tom Odell said of the album, “I wish I could wrap it up into a nice little bow of what the mood and the message is, but these songs are the antithesis of that. To live, and to write honestly about it, is such a profoundly important part of my life now. And I feel like if I have any duty whatsoever, it's just to continue to do that.” - source : Apple Music
