  • Nation of Language Releases New Song “In Your Head”

  • Brooklyn-based indie pop band Nation of Language, consisting of Ian Richard Devaney (vocals/guitar), Aidan Noell (synthesizer), and Alex MacKay (bass), released a new song “In Your Head” on August 19, 2025.

The song is the fourth single off of their upcoming fourth studio album “Dance Called Memory”, following “Under the Water”, “I'm Not Ready for the Change”, and “Inept Apollo”.
The album is set to be released on September 19, 2025 via Sub Pop Records.
Th track was written by Ian Richard Devaney and produced by Nick Millhiser, who also produced the new album, their second and third studio album.

The band synth player Aidan Noell said of working with Nick Millhiser, “What’s so great about working with Nick is his ability to make us feel like we don’t need to do what might be expected of us, or to chase any particular sound.”

Lead singer Ian Richard Devaney added, “Instead of hopelessness, I want to leave the listener with a feeling of us really seeing one another, that our individual struggles can actually unite us in empathy.”
  • The new album comprises 10 tracks, produced by Nick Millhiser. The band weaves raw vulnerability and humanity into a synth-heavy album.

Ian Richard Devaney said of the album, “There is a dichotomy between the Kraftwerk school of thought and the Brian Eno school of thought, each of which I’ve been drawn to at different points. I’ve read about how Kraftwerk wanted to remove all of the humanity from their music, but Eno often spoke about wanting to make synthesized music that felt distinctly human. As much as Kraftwerk is a sonically foundational influence, with this record I leaned much more towards the Eno school of thought. That this thing should be as unvarnished and warm as possible. In this era quickly being defined by the rise of AI supplanting human creators I’m focusing more on the human condition, and I need the underlying music to support that.”
