  • Yorke Releases New Song “airplane mode”

  • Australian singer-songwriter Yorke released a new song “airplane mode” on August 21, 2025.

The song is featured on the deluxe edition of her third EP “unfinished business”, which was released on the same day.
The standard edition of the EP was released back in June. The deluxe edition of the EP comprises 6 tracks, including the original 5 songs and “airplane mode”.
Yorke wrote and recorded the song with singer-songwriter Sarah Troy and producer Lucky West in Los Angeles.
The accompanying music video was directed by Kyle Caulfield and filmed in Tokyo.

Yorke said of the song, “It was written about being highly empathetic and thinking about how much easier it would be if I could just turn that side of me off. I just wanted to tap out and feel numb for a second, and I was frustrated that I couldn't. I was so obsessed with the chorus production from very early into the session that the song was written in a few hours, it was just one of those days where everything feels very alive in the room. We managed to capture everything I wanted to say. It was super all hands-on deck; Lucky had a bunch of weird and wonderful instruments that we took turns in playing (like a piano accordion etc) and it just allowed for a very creatively unrestrained energy.”
  • She continued, “airplane mode is my favourite track off the EP, and when you listen to the deluxe, I think everything makes a lot more sense. It becomes the opener and sets the scene of the EP being an emotional journey to navigate my life in my 20s. It's almost like this pipe dream of wanting to feel nothing, and then 'love on the run' comes in and you're swept straight back into the story of finding someone when you least expect it. When listening in order, it's like the protagonist of the EP is constantly trying to break down the emotional barriers that 'airplane mode' set.”

  • Yorke explained some tracks for the EP.

    “love on the run”
“Sonically, I think of the new world as the redemption of my 20’s. I just really wanted to create music people could exercise, party, drive or get ready to, as I was sick of being sad and wanted to regain control. It’s the first time since starting the Yorke project that I haven’t felt ashamed to say, ‘Hey, I love writing and listening to pop music more than anything.’”

    “i wanna hate you”
“I wrote this song in London with two incredible collaborators Josef Page and Saint Raymond, and it was actually my first writing session in London ever so I was pretty nervous going into it. I’d gotten the tube by myself (lol tourist) and was kinda imagining a very different life to mine – one where I’d taken a gap year and travelled the world with a group of friends and stayed in shitty hostels and lived off dry crackers. It then lead me to think about all the friendships that had come and gone in my life since high school, especially ones I never thought would end. And it really wasn’t a bad or bitter thing, we just grew apart naturally - and that’s okay.”
