Perrie Announces Debut Album “Perrie”, Shares New Song “If He Wanted To He Would”
British singer-songwriter and former Little Mix's member Perrie has announced her upcoming self-titled debut solo album will be released on September 26, 2025.
From the album, she unveiled a new song “If He Wanted To He Would” on August 22, 2025.
The song is the third single off of the album, following “Forget About Us” and “You Go Your Way”.
It was written by Charlie Martin, Joe Housley, Nina Nesbit, and Perrie Edwards. Produced by Steven Solomon and The Nocturn.
The accompanying music video was directed by Dora Paphides.
Perrie told Rolling Stone about the song,“From my own experience I was in a relationship for a very long time and sometimes you're so in love with someone and you devote so much time and energy that you don't always see the red flags. This song is about not applauding your partner for doing the fucking bare minimum. We get one chance in life, so let's spend it with some who is deserving.”- Her highly-anticipated album comprises 16 tracks. She had pretty much finished the album last year, but reworked it from scratch, keeping only two songs.
Perrie told Rolling Stone, “I'm glad I stuck to my guns. I just felt in my gut that the first try didn't feel 100 per cent like it was me. Now I just feel like it's really autobiographical. It's just about my life, my experiences, and it feels a lot more genuine to me.”
Perrie said in a statement, “At the end of last year I was feeling so much pressure to release music and move quickly. I wasn't happy and didn't feel like the music I was releasing was right. During one of my therapy sessions, my therapist said if you're not happy just take away that pressure and stop for a bit. She was right and I decided to press pause on my music.” -
She continued, “I went back in the studio and spent time writing songs that were totally authentic to me and about subjects that were close to my heart, without the pressure of having to hit a release date. I absolutely love the album I have created and I'm really proud of it. This is the music I want to make and I'm super excited to release it to the world this October. I hope you love it as much as I do.”
