Conan Gray Performs “Actor” & Cover of Chappell Roan's “The Subway” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge
American singer-songwriter Conan Gray appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform “Actor” and a cover of American singer-songwriter Chappell Roan's “The Subway”.
This marks his debut on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge as a musical guest.
“Actor” is featured on his fourth studio album “Wishbone”, which was released back in August.
The album reached No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 3 on the US Billboard 200.
The track was written by Conan Gray and produced by Dan Nigro.
Conan Gray told Capital Buzz about the song, “'Actor' felt like the perfect way to give people a rundown of exactly how I was feeling from top to bottom of the album. In so many ways, that first verse, I think, kind of covers everything. And in a lot of ways, I kind of gaslight people into thinking it’s going to be a love album. So with the album itself, I thought it was important to do the opposite and be like, 'What you’re about to listen to right now is this very specific story that happened to me.' It’s one of the ones that I felt was just a cornerstone of the story of the album.”- “The Subway” was released by Chappell Roan as the third single from her upcoming sophomore album on July 31, 2025.
The song reached No. 1 on the UK singles Chart and No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
It was written by Chappell Roan, and Dan Nigro, who also produced the track.
Conan Gray said of the song, “I chose the song 'The Subway' by chapel Roan, because it's a good song that I love and I've listened to a bajillion times. Her version is so powerful and the live version is so big. And so I want to do a little bit more.” - source : BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge
