Howling Bells Returns With New Song “Unbroken”
London-based Australian indie rock band Howling Bells, consisting of Juanita Stein (vocals), Joel Stein (guitar) and Glenn Moule (drums), returned with new song “Unbroken” on September18, 2025.
The song is their first music in over a decade since the 2014 album “Heartstrings”.
In celebration of the new release, the band will host a super-intimate London show at Lock Tavern in Camden on November 5, 2025.
The band recorded the song with their long-time collaborator, producer Ben Hillier at his Agricultural Audio Studios.
The track was written by lenn Moule, Joel Stein, and Juanita Stein. The accompanying music video was directed by Orlando Cubitt.
The band lead singer Juanita Stein said of the song, “You can either call it childlike or stupidity, but you have to have that in order to believe that something greater can happen. Surviving as a band for over two decades requires extraordinary grit and, to some degree, irrationality. None of it really makes sense, except for the will and the love of the music itself. Unbroken is very much a testament to all of this.”- After the release of the fourth studio album, there was no dramatic dissolution or even an announcement of an intended hiatus but, as Juanita Stein explains, “life just happened”, and the Bells rang silent for a decade.
“Unbroken” marks a powerful re-entry for a band that helped shape the mid-2000s alternative landscape.
The band said, “We’re finally able to share with you the first new single Howling Bells have released in over a decade. Excited/overjoyed doesn’t even cut it. This track really is about the phenomenal energy, grit and love that goes into keeping the bells chiming. We hope this works its way into your heads and hearts as it has ours.” -
