Tainted Youth Releases New Song “drifting away”
London-based electronic music duo Tainted Youth, consisting of Kathleen Down (vocals) and Ryan Hall (keyboards), released a new song “drifting away” on July 31, 2025.
The song is the third single since the 2024 “EP Bradman House”, following “Player 2” and “brand new”.
Written, recorded, produced, and mixed entirely in their living room, the track captures what it feels like to grow apart from the person you were once closest to in their signature melancholic drum and bass style.
The band lead singer Kathleen Down said of the song, “We actually wrote the first version of this song back in 2017, before Tainted Youth even existed. We’d only met a couple times, but something just clicked. Earlier this year, Ryan made a new instrumental that instantly brought those old lyrics back to life. We knew it was time.”
Ryan Hall added, “This song means a lot to us both. It’s kind of a symbol of how far we’ve come-personally and as a group-since we wrote the first version eight years ago.”- The duo shared on social media, “We wrote the song way back in 2018 before we ever decided to start a music project together. Earlier this year we were listening back to old tracks for a laugh and this one really stood out as having potential. We decided to rewrite parts of it and give it a new life. It’s funny to think how 7 years ago we were basically strangers in a writing session and after all these years it’s finally getting released!”
