dodie Announces New Album “Not For Lack Of Trying”, Shares New Song “I Feel Bad For You, Dave”
British singer-songwriter dodie has announced her upcoming sophomore album “Not For Lack Of Trying” will be released on October 3, 2025 via Decca Records.
The album is her first body of work in four years since the 2021 album “Build a Problem”.
From the album, she unveiled a new song “I Feel Bad For You, Dave” on August 15, 2025.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “I’M FINE!” Released back in June.
It was written and produced by dodie, with production by Joe Rubel and Peter Miles.
dodie said of the song, “A song about the ego of people who feel as though they lack power, so try to gain it in ways that ironically have the opposite effect. We all know a Dave!”
The song was inspired by the abuse a close friend had received online. She said, “I did not know what to do - I wanted to just drag them down, I wanted to reply to them and make videos about them. And I was like, ‘OK, I can’t do any of that, so I’ll write a song.’”- The new album comprises 12 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from Greta Isaac. She recorded the album with producer Joe Rubel between London and Los Angeles.
She said of the album, “Not For Lack Of Trying is so simple, so sad and it really painted this picture of all these songs, of me trying to figure it out.”
She said of the title track, “It was one of those songs that feels like it’s already written, so you’re trying to find it.” - source : Apple Music
