Sekou Premieres New Song “Catching Bodies” on BBC Radio 1
London-based singer-songwriter Sekou premiered a new song “Catching Bodies” on BBC Radio 1's Future Pop with Maia Beth.
The song is his first music in a year and four months since “let go of me slowly”.
Also, the track will appear on his upcoming 9-track project, which is expected to be released in 2026.
It was written by Gbanjah F. Carter, Jeff Gitelman. Kevin Theodore, Sekou Sylla, Theron Thomas, and Timothy J. Thomas. Produced by Jeff Gitty, Kevin Theodore, and Theron Thomas.
The accompanying music video was directed by Iggy London.
Sekou told Maia Beth about the song, “'Catching bodies', for me is when we was writing it, it was just again, like finding yourself, and I think I lost myself so much. And my musical and personal life that I just wanted something that said freedom and joy and not really caring about opinions. And it was just really just about like letting go and standing on your own business.”- He continued, “I think I just want people to really take away that there's someone who's been through a lot of stuff in their life. And people can relate to that, and just know that you're allowed to be who you want to be. And don't ever feel shy about that. So I think that's the most important message for me.”
He added, “It's been a very long time coming. Haven't released for a very long time, like a year and a half, two years, but now everything's busy, everything's prepared. We have projects on projects of music. And it's just been consistent now, and I'm even going back to write more music for next year. But it's very full.” -
He shared on social media, “After 2 years of no new music. I can't believe we're here finally it's been mad, a lot of down moments but we are here making this music over the past year has been incredible. I wanna say thank you to everyone who's helped make this with me.”
Before the release of the song, he appeared on Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber's new album “SWAGG”, performing “TOO LONG”. Additionally, he performed “Limitless” on British rapper Central Cee's album “Can't Rush Greatness”. - source : BBC Radio 1
