Gary Barlow Releases New Collaborative EP “Meanwhile”
British pop group Take That's lead singer Gary Barlow released a new collaborative EP “Meanwhile” on August 29, 2025.
It is his first project in four years since the 2021 album “The Dream of Christmas”.
The EP comprises 4 tracks, featuring guest appearances from British singer-songwriter Becky Hill, Armenian singer-songwriter Rosa Linn, and American singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat.
Produced by Dan Keen, Gary Barlow, Jimmy Robbins, Eric Arjes, and Ryan Carline.
Gary Barlow said of the EP, “What I love about this EP is the way these collaborations have come together. Becky is someone I've known for years and we've written together many times, so it was nice to be able to do something official. With Rosa, I first came across her music on YouTube and I was so inspired by her voice that I actually wrote 'Out Here Looking' specifically around her voice. It was a different way of working for her so when she came to the studio to record her vocals, I think it felt really fresh for her creatively. Our voices blend well together so I'm really happy with how that track sounded in the end. And then Colbie - what a voice! That song started in London with me on my own, reflecting on a friend's situation and then when I got the chance to work with Colbie and the fantastic Gavin DeGraw on it, I just couldn't say no.”- Gary Barlow explained track-by-track for the EP.
“Don't Look Down” featuring Becky Hill
Gary Barlow: “It's always interesting talking about how songs come about. This one was a crazy process because it was the first time Becky and I had met. She wandered in and we spoke for a little bit about music and being an artist and then the music just started to flow and the room changed. As soon as I had played a couple of chords on the piano, she came to life and it was amazing to see. I'm so proud to know Becky and even prouder to have worked with her. She is an amazing artist and, above all that, an incredible songwriter. I can't wait for people to hear it.”
Becky Hill: “Gary was a core ball over for me. I love the way our voices sounded together. I loved how easy that song was to write with him. He's a national treasure.” -
“Out Here Looking” featuring Rosa Linn
Rosa said: “I was truly thrilled to hear from Gary, and the very first time I listened to the song, I was struck by how beautiful and relatable it was-I didn't have to think twice. I instantly knew it would be a great idea to fly to the UK and record my vocals there. Our voices blend so naturally, and I'm so happy with how it all came together.”
“If There's Not a Song About It” featuring Colbie Caillat
Gary Barlow: “I drew inspiration from a friend's situation, to write a song that explores those complex emotions when a breakup ends on good terms. There's an undeniable sadness, but also acceptance; I wrote it in London before coming together with the brilliant Colbie and Gavin DeGraw - if there wasn't a song about it, there is now!”
Colbie Caillat: “'If There's Not A Song About It…' is a plaintive song describing the feeling of a relationship coming to an end in an amicable way. Working with Gary and Gavin on If There's Not A Song About It was such a special experience. The song beautifully captures the emotions of parting ways with gratitude rather than heartbreak, and I loved being part of that message, especially because it's something I've personally experienced. Gary is an incredible songwriter, and blending our voices on this track felt effortless. I can't wait for everyone to hear it!” - source : Apple Music
