  • Skye Newman Performs “Family Matters” & Cover of Olivia Dean's “The Hardest Part” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge

  • London-based singer-songwriter Skye Newman appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform “Family Matters” and a cover of London-based singer-songwriter Olivia Dean's “The Hardest Part”.

This marks her musical guest debut on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.
“Family Matters” was released as the her second single back in May. The song reached No.5 on the UK Singles Chart.
Also, the song will appear on her upcoming debut EP “SE9 Part 1”, which is set to be released on October 24, 2025 via Columbia Records.
Skye Newman co-wrote the song with producers Boo and Luis Navidad.
She performed the song with British singer songwriter Ed Sheeran during his “+−=÷× Tour” at Portman Road in Ipswich in July 2025.

Skye Newman told BBC Radio 1 about performing with Ed Sheeran, “I'd probably say, singing with Ed that was like, a very, very, very surreal moment. He messaged me on Instagram. And I remember waking up, and my sister's like, earlier you got message from someone. I was like, 'Huh?' She walked in. She was like, wake up. And I was like, 'what?' And I think, 'what you gonna tell me?' Just gonna be messages. And he messaged me to join me on a show his hometown, which I was like, that's crazy, his home. He chose me to come sing it. Seriously, he is the sweetest man I think I've ever met in my life.”
  • “The Hardest Part” was released by Olivia Dean as lead single from her second EP “What Am I Gonna Do on Sundays?” in 2020.

Skye Newman said of the song, “First time I heard it, it was words that I wish I could have said for myself. At that point, I couldn't. I now can, which I'm very happy about. And I think that's just what music does. That's always been my thing of where I come from when I write music, is that I want someone to listen to it and be able to they're able to go I want to get to that place in my life or I'm in that place in my life and is helping me get through that I mean, and that that did that for me.”
