  • Holysseus Fly Releases New EP “A Red Sea”

  • Bristol-based singer-songwriter Holysseus Fly released her sophomore EP “A Red Sea” along with a live performance video for “Anchors” on September 19, 2025 via Severn Songs.

It marks her first project in two years since the 2023 debut EP “Birthpool”.
The EP comprises 3 tracks, which Holysseus Fly recorded with producer James Vine in her home studio.
The EP references her diagnosis with breast cancer at 25 and her experience in recovery. The three-tracker represents a metaphoric parting from the most challenging chapters of her life and crossing into a new one, where she showcase some of her most expressive songwriting to date.
Delivered with the same immensity and vulnerability of her live performances, the EP reveals an artist unafraid to explore life's rawest edges while still reaching for the light.
  • Holysseus Fly said of the EP, “A Red Sea' represents the parting and closing of the saltiest time in my life, a personal flowing, a search for freedom, and a transition. An emotional crossing into the next phase. The EP is laced with shiny synths and glitter, recorded and produced at my home studio with Waldo's Gift drummer James Vine”

  • Holysseus Fly explained track-by-track for the EP.

    “Arms Unfolding”
“'Arms Unfolding' is about reconciling with an old friend, co-written with the incredible artist t l k on the hottest day of summer 2022. I love this song so much. I've actually been gigging it for the past couple years, and now it's finally getting its own timeout into the world. I wrote it in 2022 with, at the time, somebody that was a new friend in my life, this is Bristol artist who is absolutely incredible. Their name is TLK. We produced it with this amazing drummer/producer called James Vine, who's also my fiance. And we made a music video featuring this hat that my mum, Fiona Wellington, made.”

    “Depths” (interlude)
“We'll all have moments where we hit the bottom of the ocean. And you can't see the light. I was diagnosed at 25. I couldn't imagine a future. All I could see is what was directly in front of me. Wondering how to get back up to the top to breathe. But I was down amongst the reeds and the shipwrecks. I have two anchor shaped scars on my chest. This song is for anyone who's been at the bottom of the ocean. This is Anchors.”

    “Anchors”
“'Anchors' reflects on my double mastectomy, referencing the anchor-shaped scars on my chest. It's a farewell to pain, a letting go of grief, and a hope for the future, 'we'll sail until we're old'.”
