Two Friends & Quinn XCII Team Up for New Song “Way It Was”
Los Angeles-based DJ duo Two Friends, consisting of Eli Sones and Matthew Halper, teamed up with American singer-songwriter Quinn XCII to release a new song "Way It Was" on August 15, 2025.
This marks the first collaboration between Two Friends and Quinn XCII.
For Two Friends, the song is the second collaborative song of 2025, following “No One Else” featuring American singer-songwriter and former Why Don't We's member Corbyn Besson, which was released last month.
Meanwhile, Quinn XCII joined in the song after the release of his seventh studio album “LOOK! I'm Alive”, which was released last month.
The track was written by Cal Shapiro, Eli Sones, Gian Stone, Jacob Greenspan (Jae Green), Matt Halper, Mikael Temrowski, Samuel Brandt (Boy Blue), and Zach Skelton. Produced by Two Friends.
The accompanying music video was directed by Mark Barz, as with the previous video for “No One Else”.
They first performed the song at Lollapalooza Chicago last month.- Matthew Halper said of the song, “We're so pumped this one is finally out. I know I can speak for Eli. We've wanted to do a song with you forever. So we were very stoked when it all came together. I guess almost a year ago we were in the studio. I have a first version, that's like August 1, 2024.”
Eli Sones said, “We actually, we started teething this at our tour, the Heatwave tour that we did in January. So from January, pretty much every single show for the past seven months, we've played it. And we always start by saying, 'Who wants to hear an unreleased one? This with our Quinn XCII.' And every time we say that, people get so excited. So there are people, the song is still not out. I mean, it is as of today. But there are songs at the shows that like all the words, and it's like it takes a second to be like, 'Wow.' I guess some people are already resonated with it. So now it's gonna be a whole new animal.” -
Quinn XCII said, “I'm psych man. This is I mean, I've been a Two Friends' fan. I've been a big booty fan for a minute, and it's very just sick to cross paths finally and meet you guys and like we're now friends, which is sick. I think that's the most important thing about this whole experience is I've gained some new friends. I've gained two great friends. And the song itself though is I will say, I have no reservations about that. And it's always cool for me to, like work in the DJ scene, producer scene, and just like, play a part in your guys' careers, and like seeing songs that I'm on being played in front of crowds that are way more hype than my usual shows.” - source : Apple Music
