  • Lola Young Performs New Song “Post Sex Clarity” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge

  • British singer-songwriter Lola Young appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform “Post Sex Clarity”, “Messy”, “D£aler” and a cover of American singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter's “Manchild”.

“Post Sex Clarity” and “D£aler” are from her upcoming third studio album “I'm Only F**king Myself”, which is set to be released this Friday (September 19th). Especially “Post Sex Clarity” premiered for the first time in the world.
“Messy” was featured on her sophomore album “This Wasn't Meant for You Anyway”, which was released last June.
The song reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 14 at the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first top 40 hit as an solo artist in the US to date.
The original version of “Manchild” was released by Sabrina Carpenter as the lead single from her seventh studio album “Man's Best Friend” in 2025.
  • Lola Young told Jack Saunders of BBC Radio 1 about the success of “Messy”, “I felt like a lot of people know me for just that song, which I want to eventually change. But hopefully this, our next album that's coming out will change that. I want to be known for an album. I want to be. But at the same time, it's been amazing because it's such a of its time song with the likes of a conversation surrounding like, just accepting who you are, it's quite ADHD anthem kind of in it, and it talks a lot about insecurities, like your own insecurities, which I feel like is always of its time. Really, there's like an uproar of people who are talking about being more vocal about how they feel about themselves. And I think 'Messy' is kind of the soundtrack of that. So I'm very proud of it.”

  • She spoke about being called a special songwriter, “I don't know if I'm a special songwriter, but if I was, thank you. The best artist that I've ever lived and ever walked this planet have always been ones that have endured some kind of pain, and then that's their that is their expression, that's their way of getting something out. That's that outlet. And I think that's what differentiates artists from other people is that we just have way of expressing ourselves that's just slightly different. And I think that's powerful. And I think that there's like, you know, there's a lot of pain in artists and but there's also happiness and joy too, and it's about pulling from that.”
