Richard Marx Releases New Song “Magic Hour”
American singer-songwriter Richard Marx released his brand new song “Magic Hour” on August 4, 2025.
The song will appear on his upcoming fourteenth studio album “After Hours”, which is set to be released in January 2026 via BMG.
Richard Marx co-wrote the song with his wife Daisy Fuentes, emerging during a trip to the remote Lizard Island in Australia.
The song captures the effortless alchemy of seduction, romance, and an unforgettable melody.
Richard Marx recorded live the song with a rhythm quartet and a twenty-four piece big band in Los Angeles. Produced by Richard Marx.
Richard Marx said of the song, “Instead of locking myself in a windowless room like I used to, I head outside and do a hike. It's as if the melodies and lyrics I'm searching for are hiding behind trees and bushes. The melody came to me very quickly, as usual, but I wasn't sure what the lyric should be other than something 'sexy.' A few short weeks later, I was on tour in Australia and had a break of several days. We escaped to a remote resort called Lizard Island and, the second day on the beach, I sang the melody to my wife, Daisy, and we started throwing out lines to each other. Within thirty minutes, the idea for 'Magic Hour' was born. Over martinis in the restaurant, we finished the lyrics.”- The new album is his first body of work in four years since the 2022 album “Songwriter”.
Richard Marx said of the album, “Earlier this year I recorded a new album over three days in Los Angeles. A collection consisting of half standards from the Great American Songbook and half songs I wrote or co-wrote in that style, I sang every song live along with a phenomenal rhythm quartet and a twenty-four piece big band. No auto tune or studio enhancements. Just human beings playing music together. It was the most exciting experience I've ever had making a record and I really hope you enjoy it.
