Matt Berninger Drops New Music Video for “Nowhere Special”
American indie rock band The National frontman Matt Berninger dropped a new music video for “Nowhere Special” directed by Chris Sgroi on August 6, 2025.
The song appeared on his second solo album “Get Sunk”, which was released back in May. It was written by Matt Berninger, and Sean O'Brien, who also produced the track.
The video stars his brother Tom Berninger. Also The National's touring bandmate Ronboy, aka Julia Laws, appeared on the clip as a cameo.
Matt Berninger said of the video, “I haven’t seen a performance as good as Tom Berninger’s since Christopher Walken in Fatboy Slim’s 'Weapon of Choice' music video. And I haven’t seen directing as good as Chris Sgroi’s since Spike Jonze directed Fatboy Slim’s 'Weapon of Choice' music video.”- Ronboy said, “When Matt asked me to take part in a video starring one of my favorite actors, Tom Berninger, I knew I had to sharpen my silver screen chops. Their sibling dynamic is as sincere and entertaining off-screen as it is on.”
In the video, Matt Berninger and Tom Berninger wore custom suit by Todd Snyder.
Designer Todd Snyder said, “Having two brothers myself, it’s really touching to see Matt and Tom’s connection here. Getting to see my work worn by two stylish dudes, bringing new color to my favorite song on the album, is just a bonus!”
Tom Berninger added, “I got to keep the suit. I wear it every day.” -
