Elmiene Announces New Mixtape “Heat The Streets”, Premieres New Song “Useless (Without You)” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Elmiene has announced his upcoming mixtape “Heat The Streets” will be released on September 5, 2025.
The mixtape is ahead of the release of his debut album and comprises 12 tracks.
From the mixtape, he premiered a new song “Useless (Without You)” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is the first single off of the mixtape.
It was written by Elmiene, Marcus Lomax, Nathalia Marshall, and Jeff 'Gitty' Gitelman, who also produced the track.
Elmiene said of the song, “It is very, actually a very useful song. Because if you ever feel like you must shower the clothes on, don't shower with your clothes on. Listen to the song and keep yourself dry.”- He continued, “I basically I was writing my debut album, which is always a heavy, tense pressure on any artist. They say you're writing your debut album your whole life. But then I accidentally started writing, while writing these songs that I was feeling deeply about. I was like, 'Man, today I'm not feeling going that deep. Let me just took a shower with my clothes on,' just like, do some little like, whatever. I'm just gonna riff this way. And then I did that a couple days. Basically whatever breakday I had, I was doing these dumb songs. And then I realized I wrote a mixtape. So then now I'm like, 'Oh, I could save time for the album by releasing this mixtape.' Because what do you need to do when you need to do when you release an album, you gotta 'Heat The Streets' first.”

He added, “It hurt my heart. I get really, like, deep, physical pains when I'm in a session and I can't write, or I'm struggling to get the vision for writing a song. So it hurt the whole way through. But then I really had to run myself. I was like, 'Yo R&B used to be fun.' Like, fun. Like, really, really fun. You had like, Ray J doing one wish, like, dancing out in the rain. That's not like a that's not serious, that's like, kind of stupid. But like someone, people did it enough where he just went, 'Yeah, that's what you do. We need R&B songs.' But really and truly, you know meant to do that.” - source : BBC Radio 1
