Cherise Michelle Returns With New Song “Flatline” featuring Jian J
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Cherise Michelle returned with a new song “Flatline” on September 9, 2025.
The song is her first music in four years since “Fade Away”, which was released in 2021.
On the track, she teamed up with American rapper Jian J.
The song will appear on her upcoming debut EP, which is expected to be released in 2026.
The track began as one such journal entry after a breakup, capturing fleeting intimacies through timeless 90s sonorities : candlelit dinners, quiet kitchen dances, long walks to the corner store.
It was written and produced by Charles Nutrivore, Cherise Michelle, and Jian Roberts.
Cherise Michelle said of the song, “It’s about pausing long enough to appreciate the intimacies around us, and being present & intentional in all our relationships. I originally wrote it from a romantic context, but I now realize that I can apply it to any type of relationship, including the one you have with yourself. This song is currently my lifeline through grief, a time when it’s been extremely important for me to be in fellowship and community with those around me.”- She continued, “After 3 long years of singing this one around the crib, Flatline is finally yours. This song began as a soft poem about having the “perfect” day despite some troubling times, and somehow it grew into something that has carried me through so much grief, suffering, and healing. Music has become a mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual anchor for me, and I am so grateful for that. I hope when you hear Flatline, you remember the little things...the candlelit dinners, the long walks, and the laughter in the kitchen. There’s so much love in the quieter moments, and I’m still learning to hold onto them myself.”
