Jack Garratt Releases New Song “Shaftesbury Avenue”
British singer-songwriter Jack Garratt will release his upcoming third studio album “Pillars” next Friday (August 15th).
From the album, he unveiled a new song “Shaftesbury Avenue” on August 6, 2025.
The song is the fourth single off of the album, following “Higher”, “Ready! Steady! Go!”, and “Catherine Wheel”.
Also, he performed the previous two songs “Higher” and “Catherine Wheel” on BBC Radio 2 Sofa Session on the same day.
The track glides between introspection and longing. Written in the aftermath of personal upheaval, it teeters between recollection and fantasy.
Jack Garratt co-wrote and produced the track with Mikey Gormley and Tamzene Allison-Power.
Jack Garratt said of the song, “Kind of both. A lot of the love songs on this album remind me of the way in which I have loved anxiously – and loved as a people-pleaser. And people-pleasing is manipulative, whether it's intentional or not... That's what I used to do so much. And I've worked hard to not do that, because it's an unfair way to love. So that line in that song - 'all I want is for the clouds to part and to see you there with your open arms' - is yearning for a relationship that just doesn't exist.”- The new album comprises 11 tracks, produced by Jack Garratt. It is his first album in five years since the 2020 album “Love, Death & Dancing”.
The album was recorded in his North London studio and features one collaboration with producer Johan Hugo.
Jack Garratt said of the album, “I want this album to be an invitation - a celebration where everyone is welcome. No guest list, no barriers. Just come in, the water's fine.” - source : Apple Music
