  • PinkPantheress Performs at NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

  • London-based singer-songwriter PinkPantheress appeared on NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert to perform 8 songs, including “Attracted to You”, “Pain”, “Break It Off”, “Illegal”, “Girl Like Me”, “The aisle”, “Passion”, and “Tonight”.

This marks her debut on Tiny Desk Concert as a musical guest.
“Illegal”, “Girl Like Me”, and “Tonight” were featured on her latest mixtape “Fancy That”, which was released in 2025.
“Pain”, “Break It Off”, and “Passion” were included on her first mixtape “to hell with it” released in 2021.
“Attracted to You” was released as the promotional single in 2021. “The aisle” was from her debut album “Heaven Knows”.
This time, unlike before, PinkPantheress performed with a six-piece band: Lisa Remar on keyboards, Joe Lesher-Liao on DJ, Sofia D'Angelo on guitar, Jaleacia Harris on drums, Tina Chau Le on keyboards, and Rani Adi on bass.
  • PinkPantheress said, “So, this is my first performance I've done with no tuning. I've never sang with no tuning before. So this was really scary that I nearly don't do this because the NPR people were like, 'No, you can't use anything.' Actually, you know, you can't use anything. No, nothing. And I was like, 'Okay, well, I need all these things.' But then I was like, 'Let me try and figure it out and see how it goes.' And It's been so fun doing this and going through this process.”

She continued, “See, theses are obviously very different renditions from the originals of the songs I have. And just hearing them in this way is so I just I actually do want to say a big can we have a big round of applause for the band. So I just wanted to say that cause these songs sound so sick in this way.”

  • She added, “Still kinda freaking out that I did a bloody effing tiny desk. It feels unreal to see something I've dreamed about forever actually happen in real life. Forever grateful for the love + the chance to share my lil songs in that space with my harmonica too. So grateful for these ladies + avi.”

    “Attracted to You”
“My fourth release on this SoundCloud, This samples: Starz in their eyes – Just jack (one of my favourite childhood songs)”

    “Pain” via Apple Music
“In my early days on TikTok I was creating a song a day. Some of them got a good reception, but 'Pain' was the first one where people responded really well and the first one where the sound ended up traveling a little bit. It didn't go crazy, but the sound was being used by 30 people, and that got me quite excited. A lot of people haven't really heard garage that much before, and I think that for them, the sample [Sweet Female Attitude's 2000 single 'Flowers'] is a very palatable way to ease into garage breakbeats, very British-sounding synths, and all those influences.”

“Break It Off” via Apple Music
“'Break It Off' was, I guess, my breakthrough track. It was the first time my name was being chucked around a fair bit. I fell in love with the original [Adam F's 1997 single 'Circles'] and I just wanted to hear what a top line would sound like on the track. So I found the instrumental, played around with it a little bit, and then sang on top.”

    “Illegal”
“'Illegal' feels like coming home, it's garage, gritty, and takes me right back to where I started with music. I've always loved that raw, late-night energy, and sampling Underworld felt like the perfect way to tap into that spirit while making it my own.”

    “Girl Like Me”
“My personal fave, 'Romeo' by Basement Jaxx, brought an infectious energy that kept me motivated. Sampling Basement Jaxx's 'Romeo'.”

    “Passion” via Apple Music
“To me, a lack of passion is just really not enjoying things like you used to—not having the same fun with your friends, finding things boring. I haven't experienced depression myself, but I know people that have and I can attempt to draw comparisons of what I see in real life. Like it says in the lyrics, 'You don't see the light.' I think I got a lot more emotional than I needed to get, but I'm still glad that I went there. The instruments are so happy, I feel like there needed to be something to contradict it and make it a bit more three-dimensional.”

    “Tonight”
“My first attempt at UK bassline and the first song in which I use a profanity. Could this get any more serious???? Hope you enjoy.”
