  • Teenage Joans Releases New Song “My Heart's Dead!”

  • Australian pop punk duo Teenage Joans, consisting of Cahli Blakers (vocals/guitar) and Tahlia Borg (vocals/drums), released a new song “My Heart's Dead!” on August 8, 2025.

The song is the second single of 2025, following “Sweet And Slow” released back in April.
The track is a pop anthem with a playful, tongue-in-cheek, melodramatic, and angsty yet energetic sound. It remains upbeat even as the hopeless romantics struggle to believe they'll ever find love again.
The duo was inspired by American singer-songwriter Kesha's “Die Young” and American rock band blink-182.
It was written by Cahli Blakers and Tahlia Borg. Produced by Jarred Nettle.
The accompanying music video was coloured by Dan Steinert and Edited by Cahli Blakers, and filmed on the land of the KAURNA PEOPLE.
  • The band lead singer Cahli Blakers said of the song, “Funnily enough, 'My Heart's Dead!' started with a Kesha song. When we did triple j's Like A Version in 2024, one of the songs we considered covering was 'Die Young' by Kesha. It never made the cut, but we loved the bones of our interpretation and we really wanted to do something with it. We basically posed the question - what if Kesha made a song with Blink 182? That's where the reoccurring pop hook came from, and we obviously pumped the song full of attitude.”

  • She continued, “'My Heart's Dead!' is a playful tongue-in-cheek song that dramatically asks if someone could make you fall in love again by implying that “I'll never find love”. We really wanted to write a song where there are three main vocal hooks that repeat throughout the whole song and layer over each other at the end for a huge singalong that people can easily pick up at our live shows.”
