sam gellaitry Announces New Album “ANYWHERE HERE IS PERFECT”, Premieres New Song “CURIOUS” featuring Toro y Moi on BBC Radio 1
Scottish DJ Sam Gellaitry has announced his upcoming debut album “ANYWHERE HERE IS PERFECT” will be released on November 7, 2025 via Major Recordings and Warner Records.
From the album, he premiered a new song “CURIOUS” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
On the track, he teamed up with American singer-songwriter Toro y Moi.
This marks the first time sam gellaitry and Toro y Moi have worked together.
The song is the second single off, following “START UP A RUMOUR” released last month.
It was written by Chaz Bear and sam gellaitry, who also produced the track. The accompanying music video was directed by Dan Franco.
sam gellaitry said of the song, “[This song] is about being curious about someone in a social setting who you've not met before and the playful back and forth that happens mentally. I sent CURIOUS to Toro, he sent a verse back and it was just perfect. It was so crazy to hear his voice on my stuff – it was just such a blessing to have him be part of this project. He's one of my biggest inspirations. It fell into place very naturally, and hopefully it's the first of many.”- Toro y Moi added, “Sam sent me the full project and asked me to pick one [track] to sing on. The production on CURIOUS really stood out to me - it's very forward thinking and very much in line with where my ears are. It sort of felt like this was our chance to make some music. I churned out more than enough lyrics – I wanted Sam to have enough to play around with and chop it up, just piecemeal it. To have something produced by Sam with me singing on it is cool. Sam's got the sauce.”
sam gellaitry told Jack Saunders about Toro y Moi, “There's a funny story, I actually heard them on remember the show 'Waterloo Road'. Literally found them on 'Waterloo Road'. And it took me about 40 minutes to find the track. But this was around 2011. And then he put out another album 2013. And it was very like '80s coded. And if you listen to that album, you'll hear a lot of the similarities from the stuff I've been putting out. So I find myself listening more to that, and even other artists like Tame Impala and all these people that were, like, producing their own stuff and singing, that's what made me do the jump. It came from like, a production and vocal standpoint. And I was like, I'm listening to more of this. I'm more inspired by this. And I think it said enough for the beat stuff. So I kind of just it just happened natural.” -
The album comprises 12 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from Toro y Moi, produced by sam gellaitry.
sam gellaitry said of the album, “You know how when you leave, like a journey, and you're like, you might want to leave prematurely in a car or something like that. So you might say anywhere here is perfect. My initial journey was on this other kind of beat scene, like making instrumental stuff. But I feel like now I'm ready to step out of that and then start a new journey. Because that's the other thing as well. It's not like the journey ends when you leave the car, but it's like it starts a new thing. There's a lot of other little bits, but that's it in a nutshell.” - source : BBC Radio 1
