Spoon Returns With Two New Songs “Chateau Blues” & “Guess I'm Fallin In Love”
American rock band Spoon, consisting of Britt Daniel (vocals/guitar), Jim Eno (drums), Alex Fischel (keyboards), Gerardo Larios (guitar) and Ben Trokan (bass), returned with two new songs “Chateau Blues” and “Guess I'm Fallin In Love” on August 26, 2025.
Two songs are their first music in three years since the 2022 album “Lucifer on the Sofa”.
Also, both songs will appear on their upcoming eleventh studio album.
“Chateau Blues” was written by Alex Fischel, Benny Trokan, and Britt Daniel. “Guess I'm Fallin In Love” was written by Alex Fischel and Britt Daniel.
Both songs were produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen and Spoon.
The band lead singer Britt Daniel said of two songs, “We started work on an album this year and the way that normally goes, we write, we rehearse, we record, we mix, we get it all wrapped up tightly and then start putting songs out into the world. But as we finished up the first two songs for the LP, it crossed somebody's mind and eventually all of ours that these two really should come out now. Let's get them out there. And so here they are today, 'Chateau Blues' and 'Guess I'm Fallin In Love.' Two new tunes with distinct personalities that were summoned into the world the past few months in Austin TX and Providence RI. It's a big day all around: tonight we kick off our first tour in a while in Santa Ana, and tomorrow we start up our run with the Pixies - let's face it, one of theee great bands of all TIMES. A band that some may know has long been near and dear to me. It's a real pleasure and we're real happy to be getting back into gig world for a sec. See you down front.”- Britt Daniel told Rolling Stone about “Chateau Blues”, “I had this vision one morning as I was waking up of 'Chateau Blues' as a rock song. So I rewrote it as a song led by a riff - same key, same lyrics, almost the same melody — but the riff gave it life, and we added that Topper Headon-esque machine-gun beat, and it was suddenly like, 'OK, yeah, this is definitely the way the song is meant to be.' It's a song about a man in his self-imposed exile, written from the point of view of his Uber driver.”
He said of “Guess I'm Fallin In Love”, “Musically, it's sort of like a modal spaghetti-western-type thing. It has this sort of low, slightly evil vibe to it. It's about being wary of falling in love, feeling a bit unsold on the idea even as you feel like it might be happening. It started with the framing story of One Thousand and One Nights for the starting point and I ran from that.” -
