Kaleidoscope Orchestra Releases New Song “Through The Clouds” featuring Alex Dee

British orchestra Kaleidoscope Orchestra joined forces with Manchester-based singer-songwriter Alex Dee to release a new song “Through The Clouds” on October 2, 2025.
The song will appear on their upcoming debut album “Moments Between”, which is set to be released later this year.
Orchestra founder Steve Pycroft wrote the song during a flight from Aberdeen to London in 2019. Alex Dee joined to contribute lyrics and vocals, inspired by the transformative moment of witnessing his son open his eyes for the first time.
The track was fully re-orchestrated in 2024 with a distinctive “4 over 6” drum groove, culminating in a cinematic, emotive production.
The accompanying music video was filmed by Steve Pycroft.
Steve Pycroft said of the song, “I first started working on this track in 2019 on a flight from Aberdeen to London. I wanted to create a cinematic piece that captured the feeling of flying. Heavily inspired by Patience by Hollow Coves, I wanted to create a track that bridged the gap between drum & bass and Americana/Soft Rock.”- He continued, “Through the Clouds has evolved and moved through a variety of different grooves – one being a 6/8 drum and bass groove, which didn't work. After almost a year of working on the track, I decided that it needed a fresh perspective, so I sent a mix to my good friend and long-time collaborator - Alex Dee, to see if he might want to write some lyrics and sing on the track. Alex had recently become a father and he wrote a song that encapsulated the emotions of witnessing his son opening his eyes for the first time. Hearing his vocal demo moved me deeply and gave me a fresh perspective.”
He added, “I was able to see a new path for the song and decided to completely re-orchestrate it and add a 4 over 6 drum groove. In August 2024, we recorded the new orchestral elements and the track was completed in early 2025.” - source : Apple Music
