  • WRABEL Announces New Album “up above”, Shares Title Track

  • Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter WRABEL has announced his third studio album “up above” will be released on February 13, 2026 via Big Gay Records and Nettwerk.

This marks his first album in three years since the 2023 album “Based on a True Story”.
From the album, he released the title track “up above” on August 27, 2025.
The song is the second single off, following “future” released back in June.
It was written by Andrew William Pearson and Stephen Wrabel. Produced by Drew Pearson and Austin Ward.
The track was inspired by the book “Nuclear War: A Scenario”, written by American Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Annie Jacobsen in 2024.

WRABEL said of the song, “This song and album were inspired by Annie Jacobsen 'Nuclear War'. How quickly it could go from a beautiful Sunday morning to dust, with no evidence we were ever even here. How much sweeter does that make the sweet? What's the use in wondering if the grass is greener if in the end, there's no grass at all?”

He continued, “I wrote this song 'up above' with Drew Pearson. Coproduced by him and Austin Ward. Cue a magician and guru Damian Taylor who challenged us to find what really matters in every song, every sound, every moment. And the incredible Emily Lazar mastering w some kind of magical spacedust.”
  • The new album comprises 12 tracks, co-produced by Austin Ward. WRABEL wrote the album in his home.

WRABEL said of the album, “I know artists say things like 'this is my most personal album ever' every time they release an album, so I won't say that cos well that wouldn't be true. In the narrative form of 'true' at least. but in so many ways, this is my truest album yet and in so many ways, this is the album I've wanted to make since I started this thing. since 'Sideways'.”

He continued, “I started this album on my living room floor where much of it was written and for the first time ever, where much of the production was started - the mosaic that became the world of this record. Thank god for Austin Ward who shared such vision and coproduced or produced all but one song on here.”

  • He added, “I wouldn't have been able to do this without Tom Gates, Nicki Loranger and Mark cheering me on and allowing me the space (no pun intended) and confidence to explore and create over these last two years. If this is starting to sound like some kind of victory speech, well for me it kind of is one. I've never had such vision and inspiration, and I've never with my own head, heart, hands, eyes and ears been so heavily involved in creating a world for myself. I've never planted a seed that became the garden. And so I welcome you into 'up above'. Thanks for being here.”
