Sabrina Carpenter Releases New Album “Man's Best Friend”

American singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter released her seventh studio album “Man's Best Friend” along with a new music video for “Tears” directed by Bardia Zeinali on August 29, 2025.
It is her first album in a years since the 2024 album “Short n' Sweet”.
The album comprises 12 tracks, which she co-produced with Jack Antonoff and John Ryan, both of whom also worked on her previous album “Short n' Sweet”. She also co-wrote the songs with Amy Allen, as with “Short n' Sweet”.
The record is played almost entirely with live instruments, and most of the lyrical content is about disappointment in relationships and the different forms it takes.
The album cover artwork, evoking dominance and submission, generated controversy. Later, she released an alternate direct-to-consumer cover “approved by God”.
Sabrina Carpenter told CBS Mornings host Gayle King, “Y'all need to get out more, I think. Between me and my friends and my family and the people that I always share my music and my art with first, it just wasn't even a conversation... It was just, like, it's perfect for what the album is, and what it represents.”- Sabrina Carpenter said of the album, “I didn't plan on releasing a new record, however when inspiration strikes, I go to the studio, and when it doesn't, I still go to the studio, but luckily, life was happening to me and inspiration struck! I tried not to overthink the process this time, I felt so at ease making Man's Best Friend that I felt like it was a gift that shouldn't be taken for granted as every inch came together so effortlessly, different from my other previous projects where I banged my head to crack numerous codes. This one felt like riding a bike.”
She continued, “One of the most unique heartbreaking albums I've ever made... As I felt emotionally yanked around but truly remained loyal to love, whilst no idea what would be waiting for me on the other side... The album was born through magic and accident. No plans, no pressure, just pure excitement, inspiration, and access to a microphone, I couldn't have made it without Amy [Allen], Jack [Antonoff] & John [Ryan], a lot of tea, and a little bit of alcohol”
She added, “We started in California at Tamarind, then off to the countryside in the UK where most of it was born cause I had to touch literal grass, then I landed in NYC and wrapped the whole thing up at Electric Lady Studios, dancing around with a glass of wine feeling thrilled and confused at how the whole thing even happened.” - She shared on social media, “Man's Best Friend is out now x how special to make something out of pure inspiration and zero pressure. I don't think I've had greater memories making something before. I made the whole record with 3 of my best most brilliant friends Amy, Jack and John. And if i could turn back time and relive these memories I would. God damn we had so much fun! And you can hear it! It's a real party for heartbreak, a celebration of disappointment! It's laughing at yourself and your poor choices as everything is falling apart, it's wondering how loyalty and love always gets you back to third wheeling, spoken sarcastically like a true 25 year old !”
Sabrina Carpenter explained some tracks for the album.
“Manchild”
“I wrote Manchild on a random tuesday with amy and jack not too long after finishing short n' sweet and it ended up being the best random tuesday of my life. Not only was it so fun to write, but this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life. It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer!”
“Tears”
“The 'Tears' video is very special, it was directed by Bardia Zeinali, there's a very special guest in it. This was a wild fantasy dream come true. Could not make this video without all the genius talent involved.”
“Don't Worry I'll Make You Worry”
“Every album there's always a song or two that I kinda go back and forth like, 'Is this the last song? Is this the last song?' I think for this album, it was a song called, 'Don't Worry I'll Make You Worry,' that was the last song I wrote for this album. It's very special to me, I hope you like it.”
“House Tour”
“When you hear it, it's very fun, it's very unserious, but it was a concept that I had. When we wrote it, it was a really cute night and it was one of my last nights with my—, I made this whole album with three people, Amy [Allen], Jack [Antonoff] and John [Ryan] and it felt like a band in a lot of ways and this was our last night all together and we were like, 'Come on, guys, let's just go out to dinner and have a fun night, we've done a lot, we've written a lot,' and we ended up kind of like, 'What if we spend the next hour just trying shit and seeing what sticks?' And we got the first little seed in the tip of 'House Tour' and we were like, 'That's the dumbest thing we've ever heard,' and then we went to dinner and then we came back and we listened to it and we were dancing all around the room and we just had the best time ever and then we worked on it longer than an hour and it became one of my favorite songs.” - source : Apple Music
