Only The Poets Announces £1 O2 Academy Brixton Show, Shares New Song “Saké”
British alt-pop band Only The Poets, consisting of Tommy Longhurst (vocals), Andy “Roo” Burge (bass), Clem Cherry (guitar) and Marcus Yates (drums), released a new song “Saké” on September 3, 2025.
The song is the fifth single off of their upcoming debut album “And I'd Do It Again”, which is set to be released on January 30, 2026.
It was written by Ed Drewett, Martin Sjølie, and Tom Longhurst. Produced by DanDlion, Clem Cherry, Marcus Yates, and Martin Sjølie.
The band said of the song, “We're so buzzing to release this song. Ever since we first wrote this idea we knew it was something we wanted on the album. Listening to this tune come to life and being pulled into our world was so enjoyable and this song was as fun to make as hopefully you think it sounds!”
They added, “Since we've started playing it live you guys have embraced it and made it one of our favourite moments of the show. On this run of UK shows it's been so great and we're even more excited for it to be out in the world for you all now!”- The new album comprises 14 tracks, produced by DanDlion, Clem Cherry, Marcus Yates, Phil Cook, Matt Rad, and Martin Sjølie.
The band said of the album, “We've poured absolutely everything into this record and we can't wait for you to hear it! It's deeply personal, but created to be sung with thousands of you in one room. It's the most ambitious thing we've ever created, and we feel so incredibly fortunate to have been able to make it; we hope you can make it yours too.”
They continued, “The album is about the chances you take, the sacrifices you make, and the moments that shape who you are. It's about holding on to what matters most and owning your story. Every high, every low, every mistake, it's all in here. In these moments we think to ourselves: despite it all, if you could rewind and change any of it, would you? No. And I'd Do It Again. Thank you for sticking with us through all the years, you've made this possible and we cannot wait to sing these songs with you.” -
In celebration of their debut album, the band has announced a headline show at London's O2 Academy Brixton on February 2, 2025, with tickets priced at just £1 for fans to experience their first-ever gig.
The band said, “When we were younger, gigs were everything: a place to meet people, feel connected, escape the world and look after our heads. Lately, with the cost of living rising, ticket prices have gone wild, making live music inaccessible and pricing out the exact people who need that escapism most. So... Brixton Academy for £1. Some of our first ever shows cost a quid, and seven years on, we want to keep that spirit alive by opening Brixton Academy to EVERYONE. This show is us paying that appreciation forward - a celebration of live music as a community, not as a luxury.”
They continued, “Brixton Academy has always been the venue we've dreamt of playing, so for one night only, we want to make it a moment we'll never forget by bringing us all together in our bucket-list venue to sing our debut album for the first time. This will be the first-ever £1 headline show at Brixton Academy, and we're doing it for a quid to make a point as much as to celebrate: live music should be accessible to everyone.”
They added, “If you've ever come to our shows, sang the words, dragged a mate along, or supported us in any way, this night is for you. Let's make history.” - source : Apple Music
