OneRepublic Releases New Song “Beautiful Colors” from Japanese Anime “Kaiju No. 8”
American pop rock band OneRepublic, consisting of Ryan Tedder (lead vocals/keyboards), Zach Filkins (lead guitar), Drew Brown (rhythm guitar), Eddie Fisher (drums), Brent Kutzle (bass) and Brian Willett (keyboards), released a new song “Beautiful Colors” on July 25, 2025.
The track served as the ending theme song for the second season of Japanese anime “Kaiju No. 8”, which aired on July 19 and July 26 2025.
To date, the band contributed two songs “Nobody” and “Invincible” to the TV series.
In addition to OneRepublic, British singer-songwriter YUNGBLUD and Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA also contributed their songs to “Kaiju No. 8”.
The track was written by Brent Kutzle, Jeff Owen, Josh Varnadore, Ryan Tedder, and Tyler Spry. Produced by Brent Kutzle and Tyler Spry.
The new single is their first release under their new label BMG. The band singed to BMG this month after 18 years with Mosley and Interscope Records.
The band frontman Ryan Tedder said, “We're excited to join the BMG family to keep releasing music that our fans will love. Jon and Dan have already been such incredible partners throughout this whole process and we're looking forward to their continued support. We can't wait for our fans to hear our new single 'Beautiful Colors' inspired by the Japanese anime series 'Kaiju No. 8', coming out later this month!”- Ryan Tedder told Billboard about the song, “One thing the Kaiju No. 8 team told me was, 'We want something deeply emotional.' They wanted to evoke real emotion, because some powerful things happen in the story that needed musical support. That's where this kind of lyrical ballad came in. It was exciting for me because we haven't done a ballad in a long time. But I also know it's time to reintroduce that emotional side, because that's how we started with 'Apologize,' which is a heart-wrenching ballad. “Beautiful Colors” is part of our return to that space.”

He continued, “We used strings and orchestral elements, which we haven't used in a while, and there's a piano part that kicks off the song. I hate to say this, but it's one of the most OneRepublic sounding things we've done in a long time. It sounds like how we started. You hear that piano line and think, 'Oh, that sounds like the guy who did 'Apologize,'' and that was 18 years ago. So in a way, it's come full circle. If you liked 'Apologize' or if you've been with us since 2007 or 2008, this song is for you. It's the closest thing we've done to something like that.” - source : Apple Music
