The Beaches Releases New Song “Lesbian Of The Year”
Canadian alt-rock band The Beaches, consisting of Jordan Miller (lead vocals/bass), Kylie Miller (guitar), Leandra Earl (keyboards/guitar) and Eliza Enman-McDaniel (drums), released a new song “Lesbian Of The Year” on August 14, 2025.
The song is taken from their upcoming third studio album “No Hard Feelings”, which is set to be released on August 29, 2025 via AWAL.
The track follows the band member Leandra Earl's personal story of coming to terms with her sexuality later in life.
It was written by Eliza Enman-Mcdaniel, Jordan MillerKylie Miller, Leandra Earl, Sam Willows, and Zale Epstein. Produced by Sam Jackson Willows, and ZALE.
Leandra Earl said of the song, “‘Lesbian Of The Year’ is about the shame I felt coming out later in life and the pressure of trying to live up to ‘Lesbian of the Year,’ a title given to me by my sweet fans. I feel regret for not knowing myself sooner, but this song is also about the journey of self discovery & sexual identity and accepting that everyone is on their own timeline and we’ll get there when we get there.”- She continued, “Feeling embarrassed, ashamed and trying to come to terms with accepting my sexuality all the while feeling this need to show up, represent and speak for those of our fans who may not be out yet, not fully know themselves, or feel safe enough to come out. When I met Tegan and Sara and told Tegan the shame I was feeling as someone who discovered themselves later in life she said 'you’re never late, you’re always on time.' I hope this song is of some comfort to those of you struggling to accept or find yourself. You are so loved.”

The band said of the album, “I keep thinking album to album that we're growing, but I'm realizing we're really not growing that much. And we keep picking the same relationships over and over again. But at least it makes for good music and fun party songs.”
