michelle núñez Releases New Song “california, home”
Los Angeles-based Afro-Dominican singer-songwriter and actress michelle núñez released the second single called “california, home” on August 28, 2025.
The song explores the emotional pull between the longing for home and the bittersweet act of leaving loved ones behind.
As with the debut song “making the most of it”, she wrote the song with producer Yoosuf Blake.
michelle núñez said of the song, “This song lives in the tension between freedom and homesickness, between becoming your own person and missing the people who made you…It’s a love letter to California and a whisper of longing for my family on the other side of the country, who I left to live out my art.”- She added, “I wrote this song earlier this year while sitting in the sun w my dog in LA, missing my family. The first verse that came to me was, ‘the california coast never looked so beautiful, I miss my folks back home.’ I strummed my guitar and sang it over and over until the whole song came alive.”
