  • Portugal. The Man Announces New Album “SHISH”, Shares Two New Songs “Tanana” & “Mush”

  • American rock band Portugal. The Man, consisting of John Gourley (vocals/guitar), Zachary Scott Carother (bass), Kyle O'Quin (keyboards), Zoe Manville (percussion) and Eric Howk (guitar), has announced their upcoming tenth studio album “SHISH” will be released on November 7, 2025 via KNIK.

This marks their first album in two years since the 2023 album “Chris Black Changed My Life”.
The album comprises 10 tracks that lean into discomfort, vulnerability, and pop sensibility.
From the album, the band released two new songs “Tanana” and “Mush” on September 24, 2025.
Two songs follow “Denali” which was released earlier this month.
“Tanana” was written by Dani Bell, James Russell Mercer, John Baldwin Gourley, Kane Ritchotte, Nicholas Charles Reinheart, and Zoe English.
“Mush” was written by Dani Bell, John Baldwin Gourley, Kane Ritchotte, Nicholas Charles Reinheart, and Zoe English.
Both songs were produced by Kane Ritchotte, John Baldwin Gourley, and Mush.
  • The band lead singer John Gourley said of two songs, “'Mush' is survival, connection, and ambition. Rural life with moments of danger and absurdity, like dirt bikes, smokers, gunfire, and video games. The repeated line 'we can be family' pushes against isolation, reaching for something solid. This is a repeating theme on the record - build a life, support your people, buy land, and grow something lasting. The message is simple: don't give up, want more, and fight for it. Meanwhile, 'Tanana' voices a generational sadness, searching for fleeting meaning in a world on edge.”
