Trestles Releases New Song “Esplanade”
Santa Cruz-based indie rock band Trestles, consisting of Hunter Kelly (vocals/guitar), Jackson Jones (guitar/vocals), Sophia Wall (bass/vocals), and Malena Clark (drums/vocals), will release their upcoming sophomore album “SALT” on September 26, 2025.
From the album, the band unveiled a new song “Esplanade” on August 15, 2025.
The song is the third and final pre-release single, following “Bones” and “Head First”.
It was written by Hunter Kelly, Jackson Jones, Malena Clark, and Sophia Wall. Produced by Jim Wirt.
The band lead singer Hunter Kelly said of the song, “This was the first song written for SALT and I was in a really confident headspace during its writing. The verse lyrics are kinda stream-of-conscious style which was new for me. I just wanted to capture the feeling of stealing away moments with someone who means a lot to you. I don’t think it necessarily has to be romantic, but it certainly can be. Like a lot of my lyrics it’s meant to be open ended for the listener. It’s longing, but confident, and the music really makes me feel that way so it sits really well I think.”
He added, “This one is almost as old as some of the stuff on our first record and definitely feels like the song that inspired us to start writing the new album.”- The new album is their first body of work in three years since the 2022 debut album “Halfway Up The Hill”.
The band recorded the album with producer Jim Wirt.
Hunter Kelly told chorus.fm about the album, “All of the songs on our new album SALT were written during my time working as a lifeguard at Capitola beach during the summer. It’s definitely a very summer sounding album because of that.” - source : Apple Music
