RAYE Covers Dinah Washington's “What A Difference A Day Makes” from Netflix “Black Rabbit”
British singer-songwriter RAYE released a cover of Dinah Washington's “What A Difference A Day Makes” on September 5, 2025.
The song is featured on the upcoming Netflix series “Black Rabbit”, which is scheduled to be released on September 16, 2025.
RAYE also appears in an episode of the drama, performing the song as herself.
The original version of the song was written by Mexican songwriter María Grever with the title “Cuando vuelva a tu lado” in Spanish in 1934.
American singer and pianist Dinah Washington recorded the song in English in 1959.
RAYE said of the song, “I am very grateful to Netflix and the Black Rabbit team for inviting me to be a little part of this series. To Miss Laura Linney for having me, it was such a privilege to play a teeny tiny part under your vision. Reading my very first ever 'on screen' lines, whilst staring into Jason Bateman's eyes is a life experience I will never forget, hahahah!”- She continued, “Regarding the music. I'm absolutely head over heels in love with Dinah Washington, who sang the version of this song I am most in love with. It's always tough to cover a song sung by the irreplaceable inimitable voices of the jazz age but I hope my love of the song shines through.”
