Sadie Jean Premieres New Song “I Tried” on BBC Radio 1
American singer-songwriter Sadie Jean premiered a new song “I Tried” on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Sian Eleri.
The song is the follow-up to “The One That I Want (But I Don’t Know Why)”, which was released back in April.
Both songs will appear on her upcoming debut album, which is expected to be release later this year.
It was written by David Alexander, Jake Torrey, Johnny Simpson, and Sadie Jean. Produced by Griff Clawson.
The accompanying music video was directed by Lauren Tepfer.
Sadie Jean said of the song, “I’ve held this song so close to my heart for 2 very long years and it has meant everything to me in so many different ways. At the time I was in the middle of moving to la and also going through a breakup and also finishing songs from my first EP. I knew immediately that I wanted to save this song for my debut album and now here we are.”- Sadie Jean told Sian Eleri about the song, “That heartbreak was definitely rough. And I'm honestly happy that I had that song. I feel like I was holding it captive for so long for everyone else that might have muted it, and I'm so happy that it's finally out for other people to listen to.”
She continued, “So the whole album that I've been writing for like, the past few years is about my early 20s, and I feel like it's so interesting because I had this breakup that I went through that. I avoided putting any songs out about it, because I was being really stubborn about not wanting to give this boy any songs, but now I'm at a place where I love the song so much that it's just doing a disservice to myself to not put it out. But this song specifically was such a guiding light for the whole album, because it feels so me with the piano ballad, but then it picks up in this really exciting way that feels new to me and feels like elevated. And was this like North Star for producing the rest of the album, so it made sense to me to have like the second single.” - source : BBC Radio 1
