Tamar Berk Releases New Song “stay close by”
San Diego-based indie pop rock singer-songwriter Tamar Berk will release her upcoming fifth studio album “ocd” on September 5, 2025.
The album is her first LP in a year since the 2024 album “Good Times for a Change” and comprises 12 tracks, produced by Tamar Berk and Matt Walker.
The record is her most personal yet, digging into themes of anxiety, control, and emotional unraveling. It's raw, melodic, and anchored in that sharp alt-pop sound she's known for.
From the album, she unveiled the first single called “stay close by” on August 8, 2025.
The song conveys urgency and vulnerability, reflecting the fear of falling apart and the need for connection.
It was written and produced by Tamar Berk. The track features Isaiah Mitchell on guitar, Steven Denekas on bass and Matt Walker on drums.
The accompanying music video was directed by Brandon Mosquera.- Tamar Berk told RIFF about the song, “The song explores the idea of all the things we say we'll do; things we fantasize about but never quite get around to. Whether it's taking a road trip, fixing up the house or changing our lives, we're full of hopeful plans that remain suspended in the future. That sense of yearning and inertia was the spark for this song. As I sing, 'We always say we should get high... and go for a ride,' I'm trying to capture that space between dreaming and doing-and the quiet belief that maybe, one day, we actually will.”

Tamar Berk said of the album, “OCD is my fifth studio album in five years, and somehow it feels like the most personal and intense one yet. I’ve always written from a place of deep reflection, but this album digs into the spirals-my anxiety, obsessions, fears, memories, dreams-all of it. It’s raw, loud, messy, sometimes funny, sometimes devastating. Just like my mind.”
She continued, “Sonically, it’s a fuzzed-out, reverb-heavy swirl-somewhere between indie pop-rock and a fever dream. I didn’t want this to just be a collection of songs. I wanted it to feel like a map of everything I’ve been trying to untangle in my head.”
She added, “I called it OCD because I live in loops. I overthink everything. But this record helped me make a little bit of beautiful sense out of that. If there’s a thread that runs through all my work, it’s that I try to turn emotional chaos into something melodic and honest. That’s what I’m doing here—inviting you inside the mess with me.” - source : Apple Music
