Venna Releases New Song “Myself” featuring Jorja Smith
London-based saxophonist Venna will release his debut album “MALIK” this Friday (September 5th).
From the album, he released a new song “Myself” on September 3, 2025. The song is the fifth and final pre-release single.
On the track, he teamed up with British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith.
This marks the first collaboration between Venna and Jorja Smith.
The track was written by Alastair O'Donnell, Jorja Smith, Malik Venner, Marco Bernardis, Rocco Palladino, and Yussef Kwame Dayes. Produced by Venna and Yussef Dayes.
The accompanying music video was directed by Yen Espinoza.
Venna said of the song, “Myself is an ode to choosing yourself & your peace in times when we feel conflicted in what we should do. Sometimes our heart differs from our mind & it's in those moments where we really need to assess how we feel and what's best for us. When the instrumental was being made Jorja Smith was the one & only person I really thought of for the record & she assisted me in making a record that I know is very special and honest. Jorja is a special artist & I'm happy that the music spoke to her in a way where she could feel free and create in the way she did.”- The debut album comprises 17 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Jorja Smith, Leon Thomas, Smino, CARI, Marco Bernardis, MIKE, and Yussef Dayes. Produced by Venna, Marco Bernardis, Yussef Dayes, AgaJon, and willcomodo.
Venna said of the album, “Every experience, every memory, every conversation, anything new, any encounter has influenced how this album sounds. I might like a particular guitar tone from it, and then I bring it into my world. Everything has come and conjured into one place, and it's beautiful to also hear and see.” -
He said of the album title, “Malik is the name my mother named me 26 years ago & is the name I’ve been referred to all my life. This album encapsulates all of my loves and influences in one place & shows another side of my musicianship that we all haven’t seen.
