Jamie xx Premieres New Song “Dream Night” on BBC Radio 1
London-based DJ Jamie xx premiered a new song “Dream Night” on Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is his first music since sophomore album “In Waves”, which was released last September.
It was written by James Smith and Terry Callier. Produced by Jamie xx.
He first performed the song at LIDO Festival in Tower Hamlets, East London last month.
Jamie xx said of the song, “Dream Night is a tune I made while touring In Waves this year. I am so lucky to have many wild and beautiful nights playing around the world to wonderful people and this song came about quite naturally, out of all the amazing nights of music and dancing that I get to experience on and off stage. I'm so grateful for it all and I wanted to share that and hopefully create some more dreamy moments with this song.”- Jamie xx told Jack Saunders about the song, “I had little leftover bits. I still have a few more leftover bits that are in the world of in waves. And just before this summer, I got into the studio, kind of for the first time since I released the album. And made this in a couple of days, finishing off basically what I had when I was making the album. And I wanted to make something for summer, for all the moments that I had amazing nights basically playing this record. I wanted this to reflect that.”
He continued, “I think I had played at LIDO in Victoria Park recently. And that was coming up for a long time, because it's basically my back garden. I was thinking about that a lot as I was making this, and imagined playing this there, and I did, and it went, well.” -
He added, “I mean, I try every time. And I've been lucky, or I don't know if it's luck, but it's been a very good summer, and I've had a lot of them, I just feel very grateful for that. The crowds have been so nice and like willing to go with me down a little journey. And that's kind of when this song comes out.”
