  • Sophie Ellis-Bextor Releases New Song “Dolce Vita”

  • British singer-songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor released the fourth and final pre-release single called “Dolce Vita” from her upcoming eighth studio album “Perimenopop” on July 25, 2025.

The album is set to be released on September 12, 2025 via Decca Records. It is her first album in two years since the 2023 album “Hana”.
The track is about feeling nostalgic when you're somewhere unfamiliar and the escapism that it brings, with breezy synthesizers and luscious strings.
It was written by Allan Wayne Felder, Baz Kaye, Clementine Douglas, Norman Harris, Ron Tyson, Samuel Robert Knowles, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Produced by Karma Kid and Baz Kaye.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor said of the song, “Dolce Vita is inspired by the way you feel about yourself when you're somewhere unfamiliar. You can reinvent yourself and no one knows your story. When I was writing it, I had this little subplot in my head of someone with a criminal past longing to flee and start again somewhere new! But it works too that it's just the nostalgic pull of a foreign trip where you really got to escape for a little while.”
  • She shared on social media, “I had so much fun writing this with the incredible Clementine Douglas, Karma Kid and Baz Kaye last year on a hot summer's day in London. This one oozes the kind of sunshine energy I crave and I wanted to evoke the purest fantasy of holiday escapism. Huge thanks to David Arnold for working his magic on the strings, they really made the whole song.”

  • The new album comprises 12 tracks, produced by Baz Kaye, Chris Greatti, David Wrench, Duck Blackwell, James Greenwood, Jon Shave, Karma Kid, Richard “Biff” Stannard and Richard Jones.

“'Perimenopop' is an album that's intention is to bring you joy; it's fun, it's bold and it's playful,” Sophie Ellis-Bextor said of the album. “I've been singing for 30 years now and throughout my career I've been lucky enough to happily play with many music genres, but my heart beats the fastest for pop. This album is a celebration of that relationship.”
