Say She She Releases New Song “Disco Life”
New York-based punk-chic discodelic funk trio Say She She, consisting of Piya Malik, Sabrina Mileo Cunningham, and Nya Gazelle Brown, released the third single called “Disco Life” from their upcoming third studio album “Cut & Rewind” on September 3, 2025.
Packed with syncopated rhythms, a bouncing bassline, and soaring harmonies that shimmer over the beat, the song sounds like a full-on Studio 54 soiree in New York.
Also, the track is an indictment against the racism, misogyny, and homophobia that fueled the backlash to a genre created and championed by Black, queer, and femme communities.
The track was written by Dale Jennings, Daniel Hastie, Nya Brown, Nya Gazelle Brown, Piya Malik, Sabrina Cunningham, Samual Halterman, and Sergio Rios. Produced by Sergio Rios.
Say She She said of the song, “We wanted to reclaim that space and make it a playing field where all are free. So we turned it into a discodelic dancefloor with our words, and every four on the floor drum beat is hopefully a stitch sewn.”- The new album comprises 12 tracks, produced by Sergio Rios. It is Say She She’s most sonically expansive work yet.
Also, these songs embody Say She She’s belief that music can be a vehicle for protest while also serving as a salve during the most difficult of times.
The trio said of the album, “Cut & Rewind is a snapshot of our lives over the past few years, inspired by the rugged reality of being on the road and running back into the studio to cut a record as soon as we were off. Then repeat! It's like our ode to the boss ladies out there for plowing through and staying true to what they are trying to do. We hope to offer it up like a homophonic cocktail that's served up, strong, no frills. It's peppered with some hints of our musical muses with a slice of life mantra on the side. We're here to remind you as much as ourselves to 'Hire the guy who's gonna look you in the eye'.” -
