  • James Clarke Five Releases New Song “Lennie Dale (Fly Fly Fly)”

  • London-based singer-songwriter James Clarke's solo project James Clarke Five released a new song “Lennie Dale (Fly Fly Fly)” on August 8, 2025.

The song is the first release under his new label Favourite Recordings.
The track was inspired by the life of Lennie Dale, a dancer, singer, and choreographer who moved from New York to Brazil.
It attempts to encapsulate his spirit of defiance and resistance in the face of censorship from the military dictatorship in Brazil in the 1970s.
James Clarke recorded it in his home studio in London. He produced and mastered the track, performing all instruments and vocals.

James Clarke said of the song, “Many artists tend to write about their own journey, their own experiences. And that’s fine - but there’s a lot of it about! I find it more interesting to write about other people’s lives, and their struggles - perhaps more obscure figures who to me are in some way heroic. And I think ‘Lennie Dale’ is a typical of that approach."
  • James Clarke is best known as keyboardist and vocalist for Liverpool 80's new wave bands The Cherry Boys and Exhibit B.
Contemporaries of Echo & The Bunnymen and The Teardrop Explodes, The Cherry Boys played with The LA’s, Cast, The Icicle Works and Lightning Seeds.
