The Moss Returns With New Song “Darkness”
Salt Lake-based alt-rock band The Moss, consisting of Tyke James (vocals/guitar), Addison Sharp (guitar), Willie Fowler (drums) and Caiden Jackson (bass), returns with new song “Darkness” on July 25, 2025.
The song is their first music in a year since the 2024 single “Alive”.
Also, the track will appear on their upcoming EP, which is expected to be released in 2025.
It was written by Isaac Ramirez, tyke james, Tyler Harris, and Willie Fowler. Produced by Joshua James.
The band lead singer Tyke James said of the song, “Darkness is written as this cyclical thought, of caring deeply about someone, but needing space from them to sort out your own emotions.”- He continued, “'Darkness'. Which is a noun. I wrote the first verse of this song last year in Calif. 'I couldn’t help but tell u things I never told no one, I was infected by your spirit the first time we talked.' I couldn’t stop singing it and eventually this piano showed me these chords that became the chorus. We then jammed and recorded it all in what felt like the span of a tropical storm.”

He added, “We all walk around here experiencing and thinking, thinking like 400 calories worth or so everyday. You also do whatever else you do, maybe bowling. Then boom, all of the thoughts that made you feel so lonely connect you intensely to a random brain, that likely felt lonely too, and for a second, you’re in the greatest imaginable company! You feel for a sec like you can’t be bullied by your self-consciousness, exasperations, or losses. And feelings are so fleeting you know, but being given the permission to be and be seen creates these constellations in your mind you couldn’t see before, omens of your history and plans.
