SG Lewis & London Grammar Perform “Feelings Gone” & Cover of Hot Natured's “Benediction” on BBC Radio 1's Piano Session
British DJ and singer-songwriter SG Lewis and British indie pop band London Grammar appeared on BBC Radio 1's Piano Session to perform their latest collaborative song “Feelings Gone” and a cover of Hot Natured's “Benediction”.
“Feelings Gone” was released on August 22 from his upcoming third studio album “Anemoia”.
The new album is set to be released on September 5, 2025 via his own label Forever Days Recordings.
The recorded features guest appearances from Frances, London Grammar, Oliver Sim, RAHH, Shygirl and TEED.
The original version of “Benediction” was released by British-American electronic music group Hot Natured in 2012. The track featured British singer-songwriter Ali Love.
SG Lewis told Sian Eleri of BBC Radio 1 about working with London Grammar, “So, obviously, I think London Grammar's music has kind of played a role in many of our lives. Most people in the UK have been kind of connected with their music in some way, shape or form. And Hannah (Hannah Reid) has such a individual and iconic voice. And so I've known all the guys for a long time, and dot actually lives around the corner from me, and so I see a lot of as well. And so we're always kind of bumping into each other stuff, but this is the first time that we've worked together on a record. And I think that there's something about the guys and Hannah's voice in particular that kind of carries so much depth in the songwriting and the delivery of her vocal as well that it's something that any electronic music producer would be excited to work with. So it's obviously like a dream collaboration of mine, and I was just really lucky and happy to get the guys together and to be able to work on this with them.”- He continued, “But it's just a case of kind of reaching out. And then finding time amongst all the all the madness that both of our kind of schedules had. And then we kind of were just down the end of my garden, where my studio is in northwest London. And we just kind of worked through it there. And it was a very kind of natural and just easy process. And it felt like we were very much on the same page throughout the whole process.”
London Grammar lead singer Hannah Reid added, “It was a dream, honestly. I did. I could maybe tell that you were a little bit nervous, Sam (SG Lewis). I always get really surprised when I see other people who I'm just like, I know how talented you are. It was funny to see that. It's the best garden shed. So tastefully done. And like, Sam is so modest. I think you have, like, your like, Grammy win just like, just like, hidden away. And he was like, 'Oh, it's really like, you know, is it a bit ostentatious to have it up?' And I was like, I would literally have that by my front door, like that. You have it in your studio.” -
SG Lewis explained why he chose “Benediction” to cover, “It's an example of a piece of electronic music that is a song that functions. The actual heart of the song is as important as the production and the kind of the function of it in a club, and I think that is why it's kind of lasted and why it's come back round. But I love the word, I love the kind of the sentiment of the song, and so it just kind of felt like the right song to kind of do a cover of, and obviously adding Hannah's vocal to any song is just gonna kind of take you to another level, really.” - source : BBC Radio 1
