Drop Nineteens Returns With New Song “Fools”
American shoegaze band Drop Nineteens, consisting of Greg Ackell (lead vocals/guitar), Paula Kelley (vocals/guitar), Motohiro Yasue (lead guitar), Steve Zimmerman (bass) and Pete Koeplin (drums), returned with a new song “Fools” on October 16, 2025.
The song is their first music in two years since the 2023 album “Hard Light”. Back in February, the band released the fourth studio album “1991”. But this album was recorded as their debut album in 1991 and was originally titled “Mayfield”.
Also, the track will appear on their upcoming album, which is expected to be released in 2026.
It was written by Motohiro Yasue, Paula Kelley, Peter Koeplin, and Steve Zimmerman. Produced by Greg Ackell, and Steve Zimmerman.
The accompanying music video was directed by Liza Willsey.
The band lead singer Greg Ackell said of the song, “‘Fools’ originated with some beautiful heavy chords Steve [Zimmerman] came up with. I think he was trying to trick me into bringing a bit more gaze than we have since Delaware. And it worked. It’s a snake let in under the door. And as snakes do, it coils into itself. More than writing it, this song happened to us. And so that’s what the subject of the song is about, itself.”- He continues, “Chris McLaughlin (Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Kanye West) totally understood all of this and delivered a searing mix that's both metallic and oozing with warmth, which is not easy to achieve. We are ecstatic to have him and his bag of tricks on hand for the next album.”
