Barry Manilow Premieres New Single “Once Before I Go” on BBC Radio 2
American singer-songwriter Barry Manilow premiered a cover of American singer-songwriter Peter Allen's “Once Before I Go” on BBC Radio 2 The Scott Mills Breakfast Show.
The original version of the song was released by Peter Allen as the third single from his seventh studio album “Not the Boy Next Door” in 1983.
The track was written by Dean Pitchford and Peter Allen. The cover version was produced by Babyface and Demonte Posey.
This time, Barry Manilow recorded the track as his first music in two years since the 2023 album “Harmony (The Cast Recording)”.
Barry Manilo told PEOPLE about the song, “Once Before I Go' is a beautiful song written by the late Peter Allen and his writing partner Dean Pitchford. Peter played it for me when I was living in New York. I've always loved it, but I was too young to be able to sing it truthfully. Out of the blue I got a phone call from my friend Clive Davis. He said, 'Barry, have you ever heard of a song called "Once Before I Go"?' I said, 'Yes Clive, I know the song.' Clive said, 'You should record this song, Barry.' And I did!”- Along with the release of the new single, he has announced North American dates for his farewell tour in January 2026.
The North American Tour kicks off at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, FL on January 6, 2026 and will conclude at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH on January 18, 2026.
These dates are especially meaningful as they mark his final concerts in each of these markets.
