mgk (Machine Gun Kelly) Releases New Album “lost americana”
American rapper and singer-songwriter mgk, formerly Machine Gun Kelly, released his seventh studio album “lost americana” on August 8, 2025 via EST 19XX and Interscope Records.
This marks his first album in three years since the 2022 album “Mainstream Sellout”.
The album comprises 13 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from American singer-songwriter phem.
Produced by mgk, Travis Barker, BazeXX, Nick Long, No Love for the Middle Child, SlimXX.
The album features Travis Barker on drums, Jon Batiste on piano, Stephen 'BazeXX' Basil on bass, Nick Long on guitar, Sterling Mitchell Laws on drums, Brandon 'SlimXX' Allen on synthesizer, Rook Capelletty on drums, Derek 'Mod Sun' Smith on acoustic guitar, Andrew 'No Love for the Middle Child' Migliore on background vocals, and Emma Rosen on background vocals.
mgk said of the album, “Dedicating this album to our brother in the sky Dingo. it's the last piece of music he heard from us before he passed and he's been an honorary member of our band since day 1. tonight's release isn't the same without a legendary christening from him but his spirit is all over the project.”- mgk told New York Times about the album, “Here's the real truth. I spent Christmas and New Year's, the whole month of December and late November, in rehab facility. I say it on the first track of lost Americano, where I said 'All the pages are blank until my life goes to shit. I know I do that on purpose just to write again.' Great bar. It truly sums up the totality of what I do, almost before every album cycle. I mean, we watched it with this one, you know, you could see it in the news. (Megan Fox revealed she was pregnant after her breakup with mgk.) I'm like, I gotta ruin everything. I've put so much weight on my art that I, essentially, I'm like, Oh, I'll bleed out and die for this.”
He continued, “There's no beguiling on this album. This album is not a character. There was a characterization that I was playing into that really loved being a polarizing figure. I think, though, when I'm at home at night, if you look at my astrological chart, it's one of the most like sensitive charts that exist. Among other gnarly diagnoses that I have, like, hypersensitivity is one of the things. So I have a hardened shell. I grew up a battle rapper, like, I am prepped for war, pretty much at all times. The truth is, it felt much more satiating to the broken boy that I have, just now finally, like, picked up, sat next to me, and I've been like, I'm adopting you, to be the simpatico versus being the polarizing figure.” - Also, the trailer for the album, narrated by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, caught attention.

mgk explained some tracks for the album.
“cliché”
“If TRL in the nineties was still going, due, it would be up there. It's a TRL track. There's just a desperation for nostalgia right now. We can always rewind to the records 15 to 20 years ago, but I love being able to bring something nostalgic to the current state of music.
It just doing exactly what I've planned on this record doing, right? Like, good art makes you think. Good art is controversial and it's also appreciated by so many in away that it makes them feel jovial. It's so hard to reinvent yourself constantly, but also so hit the kids. And I'm not talking about kids, like teenagers. I'm talking about kids, like, when I see a teacher showing her third grade class this video and there memorizing the words by second verse, and there dancing and having fun. That's what music is. Music is for the soul. It's food for the soul. And if I can supply the meal for that, I'm grateful to be in the kitchen.”
